Written on Friday 4th May 2012

After a hugely successful two weeks located in Queen Square, Eat Drink Bristol Fashion will come to a close with a daylong extravaganza of music, performance acts led by Bristol’s infamous Invisible Circus and of course  amazing food on Monday 7th, 2012.

Organisers of this pop-up food festival that has been situated in a tipi complex on Queen Square since April 25th have today announced a full line up of entertainment to officially end this amazing event. A host of DJ’s and bands will serenade diners throughout the day and the legendary Carny Villains will take to the stage from 8pm.

Bristol’s favourite underground circus performers, the Invisible Circus, have created a special one off show for Eat Drink Bristol Fashion, which includes interactive performances from mind readers, rope walkers, contortionists and more. These unique performances coupled with stunning food from the world class catering team set in whimsical tipi’s are sure to create a magical, one-off dining experience.

Commenting on the plans, Co-Director of Eat Drink Bristol Fashion Josh Eggleton of the Pony & Trap said:

“Eat Drink Bristol Fashion has been an amazing cultural event and we’re so grateful to the people of Bristol for turning up in their thousands to support the project. Eat Drink Bristol Fashion has been a celebration of Bristol’s thriving food, drink and music scene and has brought people together in what many have described as a “festival atmosphere” – we think our closing party will be a fitting finale.”

Luke Hasell, Co-Director of Eat Drink Bristol Fashion and Tipi Events added:

“We are delighted to host the Invisible Circus as they embody the exciting and creative aspect of our great city. Eat Drink Bristol Fashion has been all about mutual co-operation and providing a platform for restaurants, musicians and businesses to help one another, so I’m delighted that we have been able to forge yet another collaboration that will be brilliant for Bristol. Come down on Monday and join the party!”

With festivities on Monday 7th running from 12 noon until 1 am, the tapas menu will be served throughout and bars provided by sponsors Moet, Matthew Clark and Butcombe will be open all day.

1 week until Eat Drink Bristol Fashion - New Event!!

Written on Thursday 19th April 2012

It’s all hands on to the pump with our very own Eat Drink Bristol Fashion pop-up restaurant project just one week away.

Running for 12 days from April 25th to May 7th the Pony & Trap team have teamed up with Tipi Events, Bristol. Together we have assembled a stellar line-up of guest chefs and restaurants to showcase the best of Bristol’s thriving food scene.

Construction of the event’s magnificent festival style tipi home begins this Friday 20th April and will take 4 days to complete. On Wednesday 25th April the spectacular venue situated in Queen Square will open to offer visitors a choice of either relaxed dining in the Pony & Trap’s “Modern British Tapas” bar (no reservation necessary) or more formal tasting menus from the ticketed events with participating restaurants.

For these ticketed events nearly 600 places have already been snapped up for both the Story organic Sunday Roasts by the Pony & Trap and the variety of guest restaurant tasting evenings. Furthermore a number of local businesses and organisations have shown their support for Eat Drink Bristol Fashion by opting to attend the all inclusive “Bristol Banquet” events.

In response to this collective demand, Eat Drink Bristol Fashion are delighted to announce that a very special event on Thursday 26th April has now been added to the bill with Bristolian master butcher and Charcutier, Vince Castellano, teaming up with the Pony & Trap.

In a unique evening Vince and his team from Castellanos deli will be offering a 5 course tasting menu based around the traditional French practice of seam butchery – a style that cuts along the natural seams of meat. Guests will first be invited to choose the cut they want for their main course from 5 week dry aged beef , Vince will then butcher the cut and finally Josh Eggleton will then expertly prepare it.

Commenting, organiser Josh said:

“Vince Castellano is a master of butchery and this evening promises to be a real treat for all meat eating food lovers. I would urge anyone who is looking for a real culinary treat to come down and witness Vince at work. Seam butchery is a very complex art and there are few that can do it at all, let alone as well as Vince – we’re lucky to have him in Bristol”

“With a week to go until we launch, everyone involved at Eat Drink Bristol Fashion is working to ensure this is an event to remember in Bristol. We hope people from far and wide will join us in the tipis for some tapas, a tasting menu or one of our famous a Sunday roasts!”

This promises to be a very exciting evening that includes 5 courses, a wine flight and Moet champagne. Food lovers after a ticket should go straight to http://www.amiando.com/MPYTPMV.html?page=690488&mode=guestView

Eat Drink Bristol Fashion programme extended

Written on Sunday 8th April 2012

Our team behind Eat Drink Bristol Fashion have announced that a third “Bristol Banquet” event will be on offer following popular demand. Eat Drink Bristol Fashion runs from April 25th to May 7th in Queen Square, Bristol.

The Bristol Banquet evenings offer the combined package of a 5 course tasting menu from Josh Eggleton and the Pony & Trap team, a complimentary wine flight designed by Matthew Clark and champagne on arrival from event sponsors Moet Hennessy.

Two Bristol Banquets have already been filled by Bristol businesses, and a third evening will now be commissioned. Members of the public who wish to experience one of these all inclusive events are also welcome to book up for the event.

Commenting on the Bristol Banquets, Josh Eggleton said:

“We initially thought that interest in these all inclusive events would be of primary interest to Bristol businesses. However, many members of the public have enquired about the Bristol Banquets - that is why we are now offering this extra evening”

“At Eat Drink Bristol Fashion we’re offering a range of dining experiences from the Bristol Banquets, to the guest chef tasting evenings, to our chilled out tapas bar. Each will cater for different tastes but we feel it’s important to give that choice to make EDBF a real festival of Bristol food.”

Luke Hasell, Co-Director said:

"Originally we wanted to create formal dining area where people were served a banquet style feast of food where people communally shared tables.  By opening this offer up to the public we hope it will encourage this concept and provide for a very enjoyable and relaxing environment in which to dine."

“We’ve designed the restaurant area in the tipi to accommodate tables for 10 people comfortably. This means the night is ideal for large groups of people but we are also more than happy to welcome smaller groups and join them with others groups to make up the table"

Eat Drink Bristol Fashion - 3 weeks to go...

Written on Monday 2nd April 2012

Following last week's press call in Queen Square, Josh Eggleton and Luke Hasell, Directors of Eat Drink Bristol Fashion, said they had been “overwhelmed” by the support they had received from Bristolians following the announcement of the pop-up project earlier this month.

In just 3 weeks nearly 400 tickets have been sold for the variety of exciting events that will be hosted in the spectacular Eat Drink Bristol Fashion tipis between April 25th and May 7th.

Despite an early clamour for the popular guest restaurant Tasting Menu events that has seen a number of formal evening events sell out, don't panic - there are lots of opportunities in which you can come down and join the fun casually.!

Tapas Bar by the Pony & Trap– Throughout Eat Drink Bristol Fashion a Champagne & Wine Bar will be open, from 10am to 12 midnight. The bar has free entry and no reservation policy!

The recently released menu has been put together by our very own Josh Eggleton and will serve a range of modern “twisted” British dishes such as Truffle & Montgomery Toast, Beef & Salt Beef Slider (mini burger) and Scallop Pops (wrapped in smoked bacon) – with prices from £3. The full menu is here and is inspired by our tasting menu.

Sunday Lunch – On Sunday 29th April and Sunday May 6th the Pony & Trap team will be serving up our award-winning Sunday roast, using meat supplied by the Story Group Ltd, a local organic producer. They will also be showcasing the local community enterprise of the Community Farm who will be supplying all our organic vegetables, so there’ll be lots available for vegetarians! (www.thecommunityfarm.co.uk).

Commenting on the events, Luke said:

“Eat Drink Bristol Fashion was borne out of our “Secret Sunday Lunch” that took place on my farm overlooking Chew Valley Lake last April – so we hope people turn out and support it in Bristol. The Pony & Trap was runner up in the Observer Food Monthly Best Sunday Lunch this year so you know the lunch will be great! The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, it’s really good value and it’s often a popular one for families.”

Josh added:

“We want to make sure Eat Drink Bristol Fashion has something for everybody. For businesses you have the Bristol Banquets, for dedicated foodies you have the ticketed tasting evenings with our guest restaurants and for the casual visitors you have our “Modern British” tapas bar that will be serving decent food around the clock!

“Whether you want a light bite or just fancy chilling out with a cider, you’re more than welcome to join us and enjoy the surroundings in the sunshine – fingers crossed!”
